Don't Judge A Brook By Its Color - Brown Waters May Be More Natural

During the last 20 years, lakes and streams in eastern North America, remote parts of the UK, and southern Scandinavia have increasingly become brown, as a result of dissolved organic matter.
A study by an international team of researchers from UCL (University College London) and the US Environmental Protection Agency suggests that recent increase color change may be the reduction in the effects of acid rain in the 1970s and a sign that waters may be returning to more natural condition. However the study states that "is needed into the implications for freshwaters." Source
Color Tales
My color tale may sound unusual but it may be more common than you'd think. I am a relatively young woman, but due to diabetes, I had developed cataracts in a short period of time. It was so stealthy and insidious that I didn't even realize what was happening until I picked a pair of pink sneakers for my 11 year old son thinking they were yellow!!! Let me add that I am an artist and designer so this was serious business, although for a while I was philosophical thinking that I was still seeing colors, and combining them according to "MY" vision. I had no complaints from my customers.
I finally had double cataract surgery over the summer, and it is truly a miracle...I CAN SEE COLORS AGAIN! I am so happy and so appreciative of what I have regained that I have gone back to school for another degree in Interior Design. Every day brings new challenges and new ideas and colors. I LOVE IT!
Thanks for the great site! ....Sincerely, Debrah Block Krol

Check the color of your chopsticks
A woman, who lived in Shenyang, China thought it would be fashionable to buy a set of colorful chopsticks to brighten up her dining experience. Lttle did she know that as the color of the chopsticks began to fade, her teeth became discolored and turned a ghastly "pastel" color, much to her embarrassment. (Link)
