Color Professor Jill Morton welcomes you to the world of color.
A brief bio
Hello everyone, I’m Jill – the author of Color Matters website.
Some describe me as a color professor and others as a color psychologist. In short, I’ve been answering the call of color – in whatever way it arises – for the past 25 years.
As for color, it’s always doing something. It’s the skin of the world. It knows no borders and speaks all languages.
Now, I share my color knowledge with you – and the Color Matters web site is a continuation of my teaching and my passion for color.
I also teach online courses to help you increase your expertise, super charge your creativity, and give you the confidence for any colorful task. I hope you’ll check out the courses at Color Matters Online Learning, the downloadable eBooks I’ve published at Color Voodoo, and Colorcom for color consultation.
My favorite quote: "I never met a color I didn't like." But I admit I have.
(If you’re wondering how I wound up in the world of color, see “How I Became a Color Consultant")

About Jill ... from another color consultant
I think of Jill as one of the pioneers who put good, credible color information and insights out there on the www. I read it and I believe, I feel, that her color knowledge and expertise is coming from an authentic place. Experience and study has always reached thru from her site, and now her blog, and got my attention - and respect. Jill was one of the first. Bona fide color experts are hard to come by – there are so many poseurs. It’s a critical time for color. |
Jill holds a Masters Degree in Design and has served as adjunct faculty at several universities. As founder of Colorcom, she brings the highest level of technical and professional knowledge about color to a wide range of projects. Psychological color impact, innovative color combinations, attractive color harmonies, visual ergonomics and marketing trends are the critical factors she addresses in prescribing successful solutions for her global clients.
Morton is the author of the Color Voodoo series of books about color theory and is also the author and illustrator of the award-winning web site, Color Matters - a leading source for information about color on the web today. She continues to teach 6 courses online at Color Matters Online Learning.
As director of the International Color Research Institute, she manages the Global Color Database, a one-of-a-kind compilation of information about color preferences and associations gathered from over 200,000 people worldwide, since 1997.

Colorcom is a color consultation agency headed by Jill Morton, the author of the Color Matters web site.
Marketing research indicates that over 80% of visual information is related to color. In other words, color conveys information. It identifies a product or a company, as well as the quality of the merchandise and much more. The right color is indeed worth a thousand words - and the wrong color can be a costly mistake.
Colorcom's staff are experts in color psychology and brand identity. Color consultation is available in a wide range of areas: products, packaging, logos, corporate image, web and user interface design, architecture, and interior design. Their projects are as diverse as our clients—and their fees are affordable.
They also bring color directly to you with their seminars, keynote speeches, workshops, and publications.
Colorcom works with the most up-to-date and the most scientific data about color. Because color is such a subliminally persuasive force, several approaches are used to determine the most successful colors for any project .
1. Colorcom pinpoints the colors that convey your message based on color psychology. Furthermore, this can also be based on the demographics of the people you want to reach.
2. Colorcom develops harmonious and innovative color combinations - colors that work in sync with each other as well as color combinations that are so unusual that they create that "wow" factor.
3. The visual effects of the colors is also a focus. As a scientific component of vision, color immediately affects the mechanisms of the human eye. Some colors pop out, others recede.
Explore the possibilities at the Colorcom web site.
